*Disclaimer: remember I coat everything in a thick layer of sarcasm. If you get offended, you’re probably embarrassed.*
What inspires me to write. If you couldn’t guess from the title, this might not be an easy read. I’ve been on a bit of an angry streak with my posts recently.
I get inspired by the dumb shit people do. It really is an inspiration to me, truly.
What do I consider dumb shit? Well, there’s lot’s of things that make that list (because #judgementalbitch over here), so here are just a few
1.Hearing stories from my readers that reach out to me that involve asshole doctors who don’t listen to them. When I hear those stories all I can think is, fuck that. Those doctor’s are dumb, ignorance in that field causes unnecessary suffering.
2. People who don’t like Adele, haven’t met one yet (I think). But I sometimes think about that, it’s quite upsetting.
3. This one is recent: most of the people on Facebook. There is a reason I hated on Facebook and didn’t have one for a few years. Read this little gem: The Social Media Black Hole That is THE FACEBOOK
4. People, just in general. Yeah.
5. I’m going to get so much hate for this: old people.
Let’s focus on #5 for a bit. Also, it’s not so bad to be on my dumb shit inspiration list, you’re helping me every time you do something stupid.I’m sure you think the same of me, and I actually wish I cared. But, I don’t.
First of all, that name “boomers”, gross. Also, your generation is ruining our planet, and still fighting us on it. I blame religion and Fox news, they are clearly a bad influence. You call everyone else entitled, when in fact you believe you are entitled to everything. Need some examples of what you say you’re entitled to?
- My respect, no matter what you may think of me or how your actions have affected others. Apparently, you can treat me like shit and still think I deserve your respect. Respect is continually earned, not just earned with one good deed a long time ago. It’s also not earned by posting annoying memes about respect on social media. What have you done lately to earn respect?
I love making lists. It feels so good.

Ooo, you seem angry. Take your beta-blockers, it’ll help that pounding in your chest.
Don’t be too angry, you already know these things. This is nothing new, your elders probably acted the same way you do now. It’s a never-ending cycle of judgement.
God knows I don’t deserve your respect, after all I’m only 25. I apologize for being born in the wrong time period. All my mother wanted was a kid who can live in a new time where the world is safe and not run by rapists. But, I see you’ll keep fighting that basic human right, all in the name of respect.
To the doctors I mentioned in #1, your ignorance knows no bounds. I hear stories about people having a full on tonic clonic seizure in your waiting rooms and you don’t come out to see if that person is ok, you can’t be bothered to do your job. You ignore serious side effects, and people attempt suicide as a result. Mood swings, depression, anxiety without cause, all SERIOUS side effects. Change the meds, they asked and asked and you said no. The suffering you put these people through is disgusting. Listen to your patients. And patients, advocate for yourself, even if it means yelling at your doctor to make your point. I’ve had to do it, and you know what, it worked.
Dear Facebook my #3,

Thank you for turning the world into a nosy asshole. You’ve turned everyone into a racist troll who believes everything they read. But, a true thank you for all of the passive aggressive memes. They inspire me.
Sincerely,
Kate
People, my #4. You all inspire me. It’s amazing what you can learn from people. Even just from looking at you, I can tell who you are by the bumper sticker attached to your HoverRound scooter. Or the safety-pin attached to your ironic t-shirt. I always imagine what is going on in your minds. That family that walks so slow in a crowd, you astound me. The gross guy in the office that can’t smell his own B.O., we can bro. You’re nasty, and you don’t live with someone who loves you enough to tell you so rethink that relationship real quick. That creepy guy on the street who says “smile for me, sweetheart”. You prick, I don’t want to fucking smile.I would smile if I wanted to.
And people who don’t like Adele, I don’t want to know who you are. It’s just wrong.
If you made it this far, you deserve a round of applause.
I will continue to write in the hopes that it stops just one person from being an idiot. I hope this makes a doctor re-think his/her bedside manner.Maybe an old person stops posting ridiculous “like if you agree” bullshit. That family in the crowd, maybe you’ll pick up your pace a little. And maybe, just maybe the Adele haters will come to their senses.
Mostly, I am inspired to write to help others understand what it’s like to have an invisible illness. The profound effect it has on a person is unimaginable, and inspiration in and of its own. We still live in a society where we are defined by how we look. So my last piece of inspiration are the people who read this and took it to heart, and will think before they speak/post. “is this how I want the world to see me, and who is this affecting?”.
The world can see and hear you, and it doesn’t revolve around you. It revolves around the sun.
Which lies here: Look how tiny we are!! We’re all insignificant pieces of shit in this universe.
